Six months after their global launch, FLEXCEL Prime plates have moved from introduction to commercial production. Miraclon shares early results and explains what this evolution means for FLEXCEL NX users.
Introduced in March 2026, FLEXCEL Prime was developed to build on the established performance of FLEXCEL NXH and create new opportunities for efficiency in both platemaking and on press. According to Miraclon, some users completed the conversion in just a few weeks.
The new technology also received the 2026 FTA Technical Innovation Award. One of the aspects highlighted by Miraclon is the ability to move to a new generation of plates without losing the investment made in profiles, curves, surface patterns and printing conditions.

improve, not change.”Alberto Moreno · Miraclon article · Translation
A transition designed for FLEXCEL NX
FLEXCEL Prime is the direct successor to FLEXCEL NXH, developed, validated and supported by Miraclon. It combines a new plate and film formulation designed specifically for FLEXCEL NX Systems and the brand’s multi-form surface patterns.
Its Seamless-Fit approach means FLEXCEL NXH users can typically make the transition without reprofiling, changing curves or making fundamental changes to their workflow. The aim is to reduce the time, cost and production risk associated with changing technology.
The transition is an evolution within the same platform, retaining the print quality, consistency and predictability that characterize FLEXCEL NX.
01 / TRANSITION
Seamless-Fit
Production continuity
Integration designed to preserve existing profiles and curves, with validation when needed.
02 / CLEANING
Stay-Clean
Less ink build-up
Properties designed to keep plates cleaner for longer and reduce cleaning stops.
03 / MOUNTING
Lift-Resist
Improved plate behavior
A formulation that improves flatness and makes plates easier to mount, remount and reuse.

Greater efficiency, from the plate room to the press
Stay-Clean properties are designed to prevent ink from building up and drying on the surface. By keeping plates cleaner for longer, they help reduce interruptions for cleaning.
The Lift-Resist formula improves plate flatness and laydown, making mounting, remounting and reuse easier. In the plate room, Miraclon also highlights shorter finishing times and improved handling.

During a live trial, Pulse Media used FLEXCEL Prime plates alongside FLEXCEL NXH. According to the article, color and registration were achieved within minutes, without changing the curve or readjusting the profile.
A clear path for Latin America
As Miraclon progressively phases out FLEXCEL NXH plates, FLEXCEL Prime is the evolution developed specifically to continue within the FLEXCEL NX System and protect users’ investment in their production environment.
Miraclon says its technical teams and distribution partners across the region are supporting customers through the transition. That support includes system configuration, platemaking optimization and print validation where needed.
The goal is to make the change as straightforward as possible and help each user benefit from the improvements offered by the next generation of FLEXCEL plates.
